All for the sake of supporting and doing good work so that i won't go to hell in my afterlife. My friend, Rowena called me on wednesday night asking me whether i am interested in attending the FESPIC Games??? What on earth is that??? I know there is our own Malaysian SUKMA Games, SEA Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Olympic Games, but what is FESPIC ??? Sounds alien to me ... i agreed to go with her as to see what is it all about.
From the official website of FESPIC KL '06 it is stated that " The FESPIC Games is the biggest multi-sports & multi-disability event for athletes with disabilities in Asia and Oceania, and the second largest Games in the world, after the Paralympic Games. The FESPIC Federation have been organising the Games every four years, since the inaugural Games in Oita, in 1975 which saw 973 athletes from 18 countries. The last FESPIC Games was help in Busan, Korea in 2002 which saw 3,800 athletes and officials from 43 member nations taking part in 17 sports. "

Wow, i didn't know about that. Gosh! Like a frog under a well. Have to be more aware of the things hapening around me. The lack of promotion by the media might be another factor causing me not to know about it (pointing fingers now).
The event i attended was a pre-launching of the game. We had to "run" with the torch for 2km or so. Throughout the walk, people were trying to stand near the torch and to steal the limelight from the disabled athletes. How sad is it. I was so embarrassed as some of them even asked me to stand in front so that the photographers may catch me. What is this all about? Isn't it about supporting and encouraging the athletes? I just don't understand the meaning of it. Rowena likewise felt embarrassed too. We felt like we were being used and we were also using them as a prop to get ourselves onto the papers or tv. And my friend would consider this as, "mencapub" - mencari-publisiti.
Let's not talk about this, it is very misleading and inhumane.
A picture with the doctor.
Besides this, i also had a project on hand this week. I was the organising chairperson and i had to help the Otorinolaringologi Clinic at the Serdang Hospital to set up a small reading corner for the kids and another for the adults. It was done so that the patients won't feel boring while waiting for their turns. Although it wasn't anything big, but it is all from the inner heart. We care.
Notice the background it is also a project by our club.
Having fun.
We brought children books and also magazines for light reading. We can see that the patients were so eager to read the books and magazines, as they were eyeing us when we were setting the shelves. This is what we get from doing all these. We feel the joy when people are happy. It is worthless.
Posers.
After the project, we went for "Happy Feet" and proceeded on our next upcoming project that would be held in December. We are throwing a X'mas party! So, we went all over around our area to look for the best spot to have it. We are going to sponsor part of the event and people who are interested in coming wouldn't have to pay for the actual amount. This one that we are doing is just a small party, and anyone can participate. The complete information and details will only be confirmed by next week. So if any of you who are reading this is interested, please let me know. FYI, it won't be on X'mas Eve or X'mas day, but it would be somewhat earlier, so that you can go for more parties. The main objective is just to have a fellowship.
We would be going to an orphanage tomorrow too, but then i don't think that i would be able to tag along, as me and some of my friends are going to malacca next weekend and still i have revision to do for my test that is around the corner. So, revise this week party the next!
Gee man.
I like what you're doing.
Too bad I have no connections or so to events as such.
But anyway, have fun with life~
