My Life , My World ...

Don't 'Just Do It' ...

Do you realise that sometimes people does things without knowing or forgetting the main purposes and objectives of doing it?

It happens all the time, when people's mind become used to the things they do. All becomes routine and they do it unconsciously. For example, writing e-mails. Some people might think that i am cocky as i seldom reply e-mails unless i really mean it. Why say this??? In my opinion, I think that, if you want to do something, you should do it from the heart and not do it for the sake of doing it. This is pointless. Replying an e-mail just because you have to, makes the content fake. This doesn't imply that replying an e-mail once you receive it, is wrong or something. I feel that it is just not original. Some people have 'it' upon receiving and some don't. So, why force yourself when 'it' is not there.

Another example would be commemorating death anniversaries. This is my personal experience. I feel pity for my grandpa whose death anniversary falls on the day after today, that is tomorrow. On this day, all pur relatives gather, we pray and pay our respect to grandpa, but is this from the heart? Are we doing it because we have done it for years? Do you think that anyone would think back of the good and sweet old memories we spent with my grandpa. The answer is NO, although my grandpa died before i was born ...... but ... (there is always a but) i do think of the times i would be spending with my grandpa if he was still alive today. So, the anniversary is just a reason for a family gathering and meet up. Again to stress out, it is not wrong to do so. There are pros and cons in everything. We can regard things in different angles and we should not limit ourself to a certain point of view. Since this is the angle i am discussing in this blog, i would not talk about the rest.

Next example, lovers. Some people say stuff like ' i love you', ' i miss you' when they are in a relationship, do you think that it is from inside? Sometimes, when my friends say that to me, i would feel the goose bumps, because it is too fake and i am feeling like they are reading their script to me. I don't mind if you are saying it playfully. Saying it too frequently makes it valueless. Whenever you meet, ' i love you' and whenever you depart, ' i miss you'. How true is it? People makes it very common nowadays and it is no difference from the normal 'hie' and 'bye'. It would no longer be impressive if you use it too often, no longer romantic.

This is not the way it is. People are forgetting what they are doing. Doing for the sake of doing it. It does happen to me sometimes. In parties and events. Some people would try to break the ice, but some stay cool. It is hard to think of what to say and keep the conversation going at moments and it might create an akward atmosphere. For instance, talking on the phone with an old friend whom you'd never contatcted for ages. In this situation, a pen and paper would be essential - writing what i want to say, point by point and topics that may help break the ice. While chatting, jotting down points and ticking stuffs you have discussed may help you avoid an embarassing atmosphere. I know it is fake, but i have no other choice than doing this. It is like writing an essay - head, body, end. It might be too systematic and some might comment on it as too formal, but it is definitely better than giggling and laughing on the phone to drag time.

End in end, do what you mean and mean what you do!

Crazy-mas ...

Chilling and having fun. I know i look bad in this. Who cares!!! Tis the season to be jolly ... fa lalalala ...

Warm Christmas...

Humans are not to be underestimated ... we won't know how far we can proceed without trying and going off the limits.

Unleash the giant within - Anthony Robbins.

X'mas is a time when people spend quality time with families and friend and some say that it is a day where people give themselves to their love ones or just do it for the sake of it. (You know what i mean) But what is the point of doing that? I would definitely understand if you say that such things happen on Valentines day, but why Christmas??? Why not on Chinese New Year??? Because fire crackers would be too noisy, and it would disrupt any possible romantic moments??? Perhaps it's the weather that causes it to be such people want to cuddle up under blankets and share their warmth. Why is this applicable in Malaysia then??? It is warm enough to do so.

Another thing i see is that people tend to be more desperate during festive seasons. I didn't notice that until my friend told me about that. You can see it in Friendsters to MSNs. What can i say about that??? I am not going to give any comments on that, as i know i would offend many people out there.

Anyways, i spent my christmas with my family. Had seafood steamboat and it was great fun, baked muffins for them too ...

Things were even better on 23rd Dec ... i had this X'mas Party with my friends and it was wonderful. I was one of the emcee for the night with my partner Roena who is a wonderful girl. Very jolly and nice to work with, and have been working with her for quite sometime. I am also very awed with the organiser, Tim who made this event successful and most of all without any deficits. He he ...

It was one of the best nights i have ever spent this year.

Love to bake, bake to love ...

I have always wanted to learn baking, in my opinion, i think that it is another form of art, edible art.

Since i am having my so-called 'study-break', i decided to sign up for a one day baking class with my mom. The cakes that the chef taught us to bake - carrot cake, Belgian chocolate cake and raspberry muffin. I don't have to eat it to taste it, i can already smell i by saying it thrice. He he.

Well, what's next?

During the lesson, i realised that not everything is about art, but it is also about science. For instance, we have to use flour with a lower percentage of moisture to avoid the cake from being dry and hard, as water would evaporate. Besides that, we have to add homogenuous products together eg. water and eggs. We can not mix oil and water together as it doesn't mix. One an inorganic, another an organic. How scientific! It feels like i am having a lecture, have to write down notes, ask questions and observe.

So, i finally found that science is not just boring stuff, but it is everything around you that you may not even notice. I bet LOVE is also chemistry. Non?

Baking and cooking is also a way to show your love to your love ones. As it is all sincerely hand made. Forget about the hand made cakes you eat in hotels, that you have to pay. So that is not love, as love=worthless ...

The chef who taught us looked like Wilber Pan, for the benefit of those who don't know him, he is a Taiwanese singer. Really! From a certain angle.

After the baking class, i bought ingredients, so that i can hands on. We would never improve if we don't practice. Better do it now than after. People tend to forget and get lazy by time. It would be useless then.

This X'mas, i would be baking Rum n Raisin Muffins for my family and friends. To share and to care. I believe that by spreading love across, you will be loved. I would like to take this opportunity to wish those who are reading this a Merry Christmas!

X-tras :
I went to my granny's place to have a family reunion dinner today, as it was the first day of winter. It is a Chinese tradition to celebrate this day. We had nothing much to do after our dinner, and we recalled my uncle saying that his dog is gay. So, all my male cousins gave a light pat on his head to see what his reactions are. Guess what? His thing slid out from his foreskin. Aiks ... !!!

The Asian Santa

I thought that i would have time to blog during my study break, but surprisingly, life is as busy as usual. But being busy is defintitely better than being free.
That is what i think, because it makes my life fuller.

My close friends and relatives know that i love performing arts a lot and they would surely get me involve in the activities held. As it is my passion of life! So far, i have done drag queen, long lost lover, Ebenezer Scrooge and some other roles that i can't recall now. This time again, i am asked by my aunt to work together with dancers from Australia for a mall performance at Times Square 3 weeks ago, and my role is SANTA.

I got the script 2 days before the presentation and i had to coordinate with the kids who are singing and dancers who are dancing. Although it was not that much of work to be done, but the last minute notice is more than the excitement.

For me being Santa, i had to stuff pillows under my costumes to make me look more fat and full, as my original size was so much far off the size of Santa. It was so warm under the costume and it made me perspire madly like a pig. Imagine, i had to dance with all those excessive weight. It was so inconvenient. Fortunately it didn't slip off, for not it would be damn embarassing. Other than that, i was a little shy being a Santa, as who am i??? An asian guy pretending to be a Santa in front of Caucasians? Who cares anyway ... we are living in a globalised world. Anyone can be Santa, Caucasians can also be 'Monkey King'.

However, on the day of performance, more responsibilities were thrown on me. I had to dub my voice for the 3 wise men from the Orient behind stage. I even had to sing! People who have heard me singing know that my singing sucks! In the end, all the challenge and work paid off, as the satisfaction obtained is immeasurable. It is sometimes enjoyable to work with people of different age group and nationalities. We wouldn't know the chemistry it can create unless we really try working on it.

The Australians say that they might come back over to Malaysia next year to work with us on a charity show. We are looking forward to this as we had a great time working with them.

No Words ...

Finally, finally, finally ... I'm back ... it feels great to be back.

Starting holidays tomorrow after a week of chemistry, mechanics, maths and electricity & magnetism tests. Went straight down to KL, as i have to drop a friend who is going back to Ipoh. Later proceeded to watch a ghost flick that was so lame ... that i can't even describe it with words ... but i really enjoyed my time with my friend

Actually i don't really know what to blog ... i kinda feel akward blogging ... don't know where to start ... Well, i will just make this as a warm up after 2 weeks of break ...

My sister left for Japan today for her Youth Exchange Programme in Fukuoka for the next coming 3 weeks. I bet she will enjoy her time there, as i enjoyed mine at Belgium and Italy. She seems to look happy, and it would be an all time different experience that she will get to encounter.

By the way, on my way back from the airport, my brother and i came across a driver in Proton Wira who sped so fast that whomsoever see him will notice that ... he wore a motorcycle helmet while driving in his car. That was damn funny!!! We laughed all the way back. Th guy must be thinking that he is training himself to be the next A1 driver??? HA HA HA ... What a joker ... !!!

Ready, Get Set, Go ......

I would not be posting any blogs starting from this week up to next, as it is the season to gear up and revise for my test that is going to be on next week. 4 papers lining up in a row, assignments and presentations before our 3 week study break which starts on 16 Dec. After the study break, more crucial exams! Apres, vacances! Holiday for another week before new semeter resumes.

But all study and no fun makes Jack a dumb boy, so i better not be him. When it is time to study, we study hard and when it is the moment to play, play hard! So, i am really looking forward to my X'mas holidays. Lots of things to do and lots of people to meet! By the way, if any of you who are reading this is free on the 23rd Dec, why not drop by to this event. As i'm one of the organisers.

Just For Laughs ...

My friend was presenting his oral presentation on "Ways to brew Lager beer" when he quoted :

" Beer don't make us FAT, but it would make us LEAN on tables, bars, chairs and poles. "

What a statement!

Rent, the musical is an American Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical by Jonathon Larson launched in Broadway since 1996 and it is one of the highly acclaimed musical that all musical devotees would have heard of. This musical is made into a movie 2 years ago and Malaysians would never have a chance to watch it, as it consist sensitive issues.

This Broadway musical depicts the story of a group of Bohemians in the 80's who are thriving to be acknowledged by the community who turn their backs on them. Reason? It's because they are living in "La Vie Boheme". The Bohemian lifestyle. Artists to musicians, heterosexuals to trisexuals who are diagnosed with HIV. People might raise a question as on how they might land in that state?

Here, in conjunction of the World AIDS DAY, i would like to share some information on this, as i found that there are still many people out there who are living in ignorance and would least discuss about this topic.

From the official World Aids Day website, it states that,

HIV, also known as Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a virus that attacks the body's immune system. Although it may sound serious, but if detected early, it can be treated successfully. So that is why it is important to go for a blood test when you appear to believe that you are diagnosed with it. Don't be afraid, don't feel embarassed. If it is well-treated, people with HIV will probably have a normal lifespan although some health complications might still occur.

AIDS, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is a syndrome when one's immune system has become so weak that it can no longer fight off a whole range of diseases and this is the state when one has lower chances of sustaining their lives. So, I encourage people to be aware of it before HIV turns into AIDS.

The ways of transmission are via affected blood, sexual or rectal fluids or breast milk.

There are many reason behind on how and why people get this disease. Streotypical minded ones would say - it must be those who take drugs who get all this filthy disease. I disagree with this statement. Human are not perfect and things happen. We do make mistakes consciously and unconsciously, but why should people discriminate and shy themselves away? We should not live in misery, instead ways of overcoming should be taken in to account. Ever wonder if this might happen to you one day? How would people treat us? Would they treat us as we have treted them before? Do you know that, some people get it through their husbands, kids through their mothers, cinema-goers, beach-lovers who walk bare footed ... there are so many ways out there that one can get it. So, don't classify them as only drug users, homosexuals or casanovas.

Everyone can do their part. HIV negatives or positives. Remember to have protected sex whenever you are unsure of the partner. This don't only apply to those married couples but also singles out there, as i would not believe that people only engage in sexual acts after marriage. Don't lie! Educate, raise-funds, end prejudice - wear the red ribbon to show your support!

For HIV positives, please don't be jealous and feel ashamed. Don't take revenge on people and make them one of you. This is very inconsiderate. Go for treatment, share your stories, lend your arms to those in need and challenge prejudice. And most of all be proud of who you are! There would be people out there if you think that there is no one there for you.

Love yourself, love others, end prejudice, act up, Fight AIDS!
